Aim higher with Cat® Payload

At first glance, technology can sometimes be scary or look counterproductive when you don’t see its true worth or its advantages, but then, when we see how it saves us time and money, we realize we can’t live without it. Cat integrated technologies, like Cat® Payload, are designed to lower costs, improve operator efficiency and grow productivity. Cat Payload was first introduced in the next generation Wheel Loader machines but now it’s commonly found in articulated trucks, off-highway trucks and more recently in excavators. In fact, Cat excavators are the only excavators on the market using Cat® Payload technology.

What is payload?

When you load material, you need to know three things:

1)    what was loaded where

2)    what quantity was loaded into the truck or hopper

3)    where the material was ultimately transported

Not only does Cat® Payload technology delivers that information and keep track of it over time, it also helps loader operators get the right load on board, the first time, every time.

Tonnes of advantages

In addition to being easy to use, Cat® Payload technology provides detailed monitoring reports, lets operators load the correct quantity of material with precision starting with the first load, and improves operator efficiency. But the biggest advantage is it lets you know with certainty the exact load size, the time frame and the loading charges, so you get paid correctly for your work.

With onboard weighing systems and real time feedback in the cabin, Cat® Payload does more than simply eliminate trips to the weighing scale. It also helps you boost productivity, drive down costs, increase operator efficiency and run a safer jobsite.

Increase productivity and lower costs

On-the-Go Load Weighing helps operators hit exact loading targets every time, increasing productivity and reducing cycle times, which in turn eliminates overloading, reduces excessive wear, saves on expensive tire damage and reduces dangerous material spills. Eliminating underloading means you can move more material in fewer loads, saving time and fuel.

Makes for better operators

In-Cab Displays let operators easily see bucket and truck load weights, track load counts and material movement, and monitor productivity and fuel efficiency in real time. On hauling tools, payload lamps and external scoreboard displays provide load status to the loader operator. It all increases accuracy which in turn reduces costly errors and rework.

Loads of benefits

Comprehensive Reporting lets you track key performance indicators like daily production tonnage, truck load counts, tons/hour, tons/fuel burned and more, then make improvements to boost productivity and profits.

Eliminate unnecessary cycles

Being able to meter that final bucket load helps the operator avoid making an extra trip from the stockpile, reducing loading times and saving fuel. Operators know exactly how much material is needed to reach the target payload weight (assumes starting with a fresh tare weight), and they can see exactly how much is in the bucket, so they can quickly make adjustments to the final bucket load at the stockpile before traveling to the truck.

Manage changing material weight

Even if every wheel loader bucketload looks identical, the actual weight of the material can vary significantly depending on its density and moisture content. Experienced operators can feel the difference, but incorrect estimates can prove costly.
