Most of the time when people think of the Caterpillar brand, what comes to mind is heavy machinery or trucks, they might sometimes associate the brand to generators or lift trucks and much less often, with boats, specialized machines and all terrain extreme vehicles...
It’s a bit of a well-kept secret, but it shouldn't be, in fact, there is a wide range of Cat engines that are designed to be sold to other equipment manufacturers. The idea is that those companies can focus on their specific machine design and functionality and rely on Cat engines to power it. Both the manufacturer and Cat get to do what they do best and their work together makes some awesome, innovative and powerful machines. It is certainly the case of the Fat Truck.
The very cool name is not just for show, this industrial off-road utility vehicle is pretty impressive all around with its extreme all-season off-road capacities. Not to mention that it’s amphibious, it fits 8 people, has a customizable pressure control in each tire, it has a ton of safety features and, of course, it’s powered by a Tier 4 state-of-the-art C2.2 Cat engine performing under any extreme conditions.
The Fat Truck is a product of Zeal Motor, a Canadian company based in Bromont (QC), it’s been developed to answer the specific needs of remote job sites, mines, power plants, first responders… It literally goes where all other vehicles cannot go and because of the challenging conditions and terrain in which it’s used, reliability and performance are critical, therefore a Cat engine was a must.
There are a lot of other remarkably ingenious machines using Cat engines out there, from all industries and catering to all sorts of specialized needs. Toromont Cat Power Systems team is working with manufacturers so their creations get the customized power, reliability and performance they require.
See the Fat Truck, an incredibly capable vehicle with a Cat heart, in full action.
